A brand name or similar product photo is not enough to confirm a replacement part. Match the complete machine code, regional version, assembly revision and manufacturer part number before ordering. First make sure the proposed part addresses the observed fault.

Model and procedure boundaryA purchase-verification checklist, not a compatibility database or an endorsement of any seller. This site does not certify that a generic reservoir, milk carafe, basket or burr fits your machine.

Which observation matches?

Choose the closest observation. The complete decision list remains below.

The listing says only "fits Breville" or "fits Philips"

Ask for the specific supported machine codes and a manufacturer cross-reference.

Your model has a suffix or revision

Include it in the comparison; do not drop EX:2 or the regional code because the product name looks familiar.

Two parts look the same but have different numbers

Do not assume interchangeability. Ask the manufacturer or authorized parts service.

You have not isolated the fault

Use the diagnostic guide first. Buying a part is not a substitute for identifying the failed path.

Safe checks, in order

  1. Record the full model from the machine label and the part number on the removable component where present.
  2. Find the official model support/parts page and compare its diagrams or approved reference, not just a marketplace photograph.
  3. Ask the seller to confirm the exact model and revision, included seals/adapters, condition and return terms in writing.
  4. Before installation, check the owner procedure. Leave electrical assemblies, internal pressure components and safety controls to qualified service.

Why a revision is a real distinction

DeLonghi publishes separate milk-carafe cleaning videos for certain Magnifica Evo revisions. That does not establish a universal incompatibility rule, but it is a useful warning against treating every similarly named assembly as identical. Philips also ties model support to full EP product codes.

A message you can send a seller

"My machine code is [full code], regional supply is [label specification], revision is [suffix], and the existing part number is [number]. Please confirm your exact part is approved for this combination and identify any adapter required." Do not share your full serial number in a public product question.

Compare total costs, not only the part

For a professional repair, include the diagnosis, labor and shipping quote. For a replacement machine, use the total delivered price. The repair-or-replace tool performs that arithmetic from your figures; it does not predict remaining machine life or make a safety judgment.

Stop and obtain help when

Do not install an unverified electrical part, alter a plug, defeat an interlock or modify a pressurized component to make it fit. Contact the manufacturer when the compatibility cannot be established.

Questions this diagnosis does not skip

Is the same wattage enough?

No. Electrical specifications alone do not establish mechanical, control or safety compatibility.

Can an accessory solve an unknown fault?

Not reliably. Establish the symptom and supported next step before ordering parts.
