A clear empty-basket path and a stalled coffee-filled path suggest that the preparation is adding too much resistance. That is an inference from the comparison, not a measured pressure test. A group-head rinse also does not prove the pump performs correctly under every load.

Identify the basket type before judging its appearance or flow. Do not drill an outlet hole or replace a basket simply because it looks different from a photograph of another type. Use the cleaning instructions and compatible parts listed for your machine.

Stop for a stuck pressurized handle, spray around the seal, no flow despite the supported checks, or an internal leak. Never loosen a portafilter during a stalled extraction.
